Barre Elks Lodge Past Exalted Rulers Association awards $6000 in Scholarships to area high school seniors. 

At our Senior meal, Barre Elks PER Association President Todd Benoit presented four $1000 Doc Parnigoni Memorial Scholarships to area high school students attending college. 

Lucas Abner, graduating from Montpelier High School is attending Norwich University as a cadet majoring in Studies in Peace and War with minor in Information Warfare and Information Assurance. Lucas will commission in the Army as an officer through ROTC upon graduation. 

Sawyer John, graduating from U-32 High School is attending Merrimack College majoring in Marketing. Sawyer has volunteered at Green Up day, The Veteran’s Place and as part of the U-32 welcoming committee for new students.

Devansh Mamoria is graduating from Montpelier High School and attending the University of Minnesota. Devansh will be studying Cybersecurity. Devansh started a cybersecurity club at Montpelier High School teaching students and staff about phishing scams, encryption, and system vulnerabilities.

Abigail Robbins, graduating from Northfield Middle High School is attending Colby Sawyer College majoring in Occupational Therapy. Abigail looks forward to improving the quality of life for individuals with physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges with her education.

In addition, four $500 Betty Cutler Memorial Scholarships were awarded to individuals pursuing careers in trade industries. 

Owen Cheney, graduating from Montpelier High School, attended Central Vermont Career Center and completed the plumbing and welding program. Owen is currently working in a coop program with a local plumbing and heating company.

Richard “RJ” Hallenbeck, graduating from Websterville Christian Academy, attended Central Vermont Career Center and completed the plumbing and welding program. RJ is working at DMS Machining and Fabricating and will continue there after graduation.

Jayson Burnor, graduating from Williamstown Middle High School, attended Randolph Technical Career Center and completed work-based learning under the guidance of Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity. Jayson will pursue licensing in the HVAC industry.

Kayli “Key” Shrout, graduating from Montpelier High School, attended Central Vermont Career Center and completed the culinary arts program. Key is attending the Culinary Institute of American in the fall, allowing her to use food to connect with people in her community.

ENF Announces 2024 Legacy Scholarship Winners

The state of VT has three Legacy Scholarship Winners for the 2024 year:

 
Brody Hammond – Lodge 916 – Burlington
Catherine Morrissey – Lodge 567 – Bennington
Riley Thurber – Lodge 567 – Bennington
 
Legacy Awards are $4,000 ($1,000 for each of the 4 years) scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members in good standing.  These recipients will be required to perform three instances of service with an Elks Lodge during the four years they are receiving the scholarships.  
 
Congratulations to Burlington & Bennington!

MVS State Scholarship Judging Begins this Week 2/1

VSE Association State Scholarship Judging will begin this week which includes judging for the ENF Most Valuable Student and the VT State Roger Sheridan scholarship applications.
 
If you are a lodge scholarship committee chair, scholarship committee member, or an interested member, we invite you to participate in this judging process in one of three ways:
 
1) On-premise (Springfield Elks Lodge 1560) Sunday 2/4 – Noon:
  • Participants must bring a laptop to log in and judge directly applications assigned (this is a great option for 1st-time committee members)
2) Remote via Google Meets Sunday 2/4 – 12:30 PM:
  • The meeting will start remotely at 12:30 PM (30 mins behind the on-premise)
  • Participants will judge directly from the portal applications assigned.
3) Remote Judging unassisted Thursday 2/1 – Sunday 2/4:
  • Participants who know what to do and just want to be able to complete application judging at their convenience from Thursday 2/2 – Saturday MIDNIGHT 2/4
  • Participants will judge directly from the portal applications assigned.
