Springfield Elks Dictionary Project

  Recently, Springfield Elks Lodge #1560 presented Elks Dictionary’s to (83) young third graders at Union Street School.   Springfield Elks Lodge has been presenting the Elks Dictionary’s for close to twenty years.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE #1560 HANDS OUT ELKS DICTIONARY’S AT UNION STREET THIRD GRADERS

      Recently Springfield Elks Lodge #1560 for the sixteenth year since 2007, handed out personal dictionary’s to local students.   Over the years the count each year usually averages (85) kids or some times more.  The dictionary the Elks hand out are the students own book to do with what they want with them.  Keep them at the school or take them home.
 
     This is just one of the many youth programs including, Scholarships to seniors, Drug Awareness essay contests, Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot and SHS Student of the Month.  
     Present for the Elks were PER Vicki Siloiski, Trustee Victor Backevich, Past Trustee Eugene Siliski and Secretary Mike Gunn.

St. Albans Elks Lodge Dictionary Project

These St. Albans Town School Students were 5 of 631 third grade students in Franklin County who received Dictionaries from the St. Albans Elks Lodge.  Thank you, Sandy and Ed Bracey for delivering all dictionaries to the students.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE 1560 ANNUAL DICTIONARY GIVEAWAY AT UNION STREET SCHOOL

 For the past twelve years, Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 has awarded all third graders at Union St. School with their very own Elks dictionary to keep and use at home or in school.
    This program was started over 26 years ago by the Elks.   The Springfield Lodge has given out to all third graders over 1200 to date.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS LODGE #1560 — DICTIONARIES TO THIRD GRADERS

For the past eleven years, Springfield Elks Lodge #1560 have been handing out Elks Dictionaries to all third graders in the Springfield School system.  It is estimated that, close to fourteen hundred third graders during that time period have received one.
 
    This year 80 third graders at Union St. School were the latest recipients for the dictionaries.  The Elks Lodge uses money to pay for the dictionaries by receiving grant money from Elks National after they have reached their per capita for the year.

Barre Elks distribute Dictionaries and Thesaurus to local schools

In conjunction with National Youth Week, Barre Elks Lodge 1535 distributed 315 Thesaurus and 100 Dictionaries
 
Dictionaries and/or Thesauruses were distributed to studens at the following schools: Waits River Elementary, Orange Center,  Barre Town Elementary, Barre City, Williamstown Elementary, St. Monica-St. Michael, Twinfield Elementary, Websterville Baptist and Washington Village School.

SPRINGFIELD ELKS PRESENT DICITONARIES TO UNION STREET THIRD GRADERS

  Annually, the Springfield Elks Lodge #1560 donates dictionaries to all third graders at Union Street School.  This year they gave out 89 dictionaries to the students to keep for their own use, at school or at home.  The Elk’s Lodges across this country have been doing this for several years.  For the past ten years Springfield Elks Lodge has given out more than 1200 dictionaries to third grade students in the Springfield School system.   The graduates of the Class 2015 were the first recipients of the Springfield Elks annual donation of dictionaries.

Barre Elks Lodge #1535 Gratitude Grant photos

Some photos from our participation in the Dictionary Project thanks to funds received from an ENF Gratitude grant. Members visited Barre City Elementary & Middle School, Barre Town Middle & Elementary School, Williamstown Elementary School, Waits River Valley School, St. Monica-St. Michael School and Websterville Baptist School. Over four hundred students received either a dictionary or thesaurus. The reference books are a gift for each student to keep and use throughout their school careers.

Windsor Elks lodge #1665 hands out 108 dictionaries

During the month of October the Windsor Elks lodge #1665 handed out 108 dictionaries to third grade students in five different schools in Vermont, and one in New Hampshire. The schools were Windsor elementary school Windsor Vt., Albert Bridge School in Brownsville Vt., Hartland elementary school Hartland Vt., Reading elementary school Reading Vt. and Cornish elementary school Cornish NH.. Dictionaries were given to the third grade students and their teachers.
